Aesthetically Eerie Art Installations: THE BRUNETTES Attend the Launch of MOCCA's 'David Cronenberg: Transformation' Exhibit

We just had to wait until Halloween to post this one. Last month THE BRUNETTES made the trip over to Queen West's MOCCA (Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art) for a first look at the gallery's 'David Cronenberg: Transformation' exhibit, which is currently displaying traditional and interactive installations by six different artists who have all been inspired by Cronenberg's work and philosophies.

The event was held as a launch for the exhibit, which runs until December 29, 2013, and allowed for guests to drink, mingle, and engage in deep, existential conversations about the artworks' meanings in both MOCCA's gallery and courtyard spaces.

Curated by MOCCA's Artistic Director, David Liss, and by Noah Cowan, the Artistic Director of TIFF Bell Lightbox, the 'David Cronenberg: Transformation' exhibit is the perfect compliment to the 'David Cronenberg: Evolution' exhibit, which opens at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on November 1, 2013, and had its VIP reception yesterday.

Chic Cutout Couture: The Mikhael Kale Spring/Summer 2014 Collection Gives Motocross New Meaning

World MasterCard Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014 kicked off early this season with a crowd-pleasing collection debut from Mikhael Kale. The Mikhael Kale Spring/Summer 2014 collection showed at an offsite, warehouse location on October 18, 2013 and offered fashion-hungry guests a delicious appetizer of apparel to hold them over until the World MasterCard Fashion Week tent opened its doors the following week.

The stellar lineup from Kale featured motocross-inspired leathers with directional lines and sharp cutouts, strappy eveningwear, bold uses of colour and print, and show-stealing metallic numbers that had the room abuzz with photo tweets. The Mikhael Kale Spring/Summer 2014 collection set the standard for the week to come, reconciling edge with glamour in an immediately wearable—and desirable—way.

Raver-Themed Sreetwear: The Jylle Navarro x Sink The Pink Collection Lookbook Embraces Electric Hues

The Jylle Navarro x Sink The Pink collaboration collection celebrates the wild and infamous UK nightlife event with a bold lookbook of images. This line of unisex knitwear features patterned separates and winter-ready headwear that are showcased in a palette of vivid, highlighter hues.

Reminiscent of something out of director Harmony Korine's controversial cult classic 'Spring Breakers', this collection of letter-accented balaclavas, crop tops and knee-length tights is sure to get one noticed at their next crowded rave event.

Jylle Navarro is known for pushing boundaries with her fearless aesthetic and this collection is no exception. The designer pairs neon hues with typographic patterns that boast the Sink the Pink event logo in large block letters.

Inspired by the 90s, this lookbook is a nod to the lost generation's wild, club-kid aesthetic and its triumphant return into a recent status of mainstream popularity.
