Wigged Out Runway Walks: The Pink Tartan Fall/Winter 2013 Show was Inspired by Troubled Blondes

Using iconic blonde characters from Hitchcock films—ones known for having a little bit of a dark side—as her muses, Kimberley Newport-Mimran gave quite a show with her ‘60s-inspired mod collection of sophisticated pieces.

And, although many critics had much to say online about the blonde wigs used in the World MasterCard Fashion Week show, Pink Tartan delivered a cohesive and colorful collection of fur pieces, capes, and a-line silhouettes that celebrate the past, present, and future of femininity. Notable guests at the show included Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman, Amanda Brugel, and Kimberley’s husband, designer Joe Mimran.

Bespoke British Blokes: The Bustle Fall/Winter 2013 Collection is for Royals with a Reputation

London looks took to the World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week catwalk with the showing of the ‘Royal Rebel’ collection from the new Bustle Fall/Winter 2013 lineup. Designers Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow were inspired by the British bad boy and Cool Britannia culture when creating the diverse range, which was both coordinated and collage-like.

A sharp mix of bold textiles, prints, and patterns made for a dandy and dapper selection of menswear with an edgy aesthetic that was more "Harry" than "William". Celebrities we photographed at the show included Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman. THE BRUNETTES also had a chance to meet with Bustle’s designer duo as the week progressed.

#WMCFW Opening Night: MIZ by Izzy Camilleri Fall/Winter 2013

The MIZ by Izzy Camilleri Fall/Winter 2013 collection was the first to hit the runway stage during World Mastercard Fashion Week's opening night. This sophisticated womenswear line transcended generations and featured mature and timeless garments with a modern edge.

From caped houndstooth prints and leather sleeve detailing to black and white asymmetrical frocks and eye-catching metallics, this fiercely feminine collection exuded both elegance and a sense of power, synonymous with the confident woman wearing them.

THE BRUNETTES @ World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2013: Day 1

A week ago today, THE BRUNETTES hit the World MasterCard Fashion Week tent for what was a superb start to Toronto Fashion Week. First we attended an open-house showing of Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse, which the blonde bombshell recently listed on the market for the fabulous price of $25 million.

While touring the plastic fashionista’s home, some real-life Ken dolls invited us to create our own couture pin boards of designer inspirations just like the ones Barbie had mounted on the wall of her grand office.

Later we checked out some of the week’s most anticipated shows, including those from labels Pink Tartan and Bustle, along with some other stellar runway presentations from Chloé comme Parris and MIZ by Izzy Camilleri.

After chatting up celebrities and designers, such as Jully Black, Amanda Brugel, Chris Hyndman, and Joe Mimran just to name a few, THE BRUNETTES went for a pint at a trendy, downtown bar and raised their glasses in honor of the day and its beautiful collections.
