Swag Brag: World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week Spring 2013 Edition

One of the most exciting reasons to attend any fashion event is to see what swag you’ll receive for the honor of your presence. The shows and sponsors of World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week Spring 2013 didn’t disappoint when it came to generous giveaways. Clothing, beauty products, jewelry, accessories, sweets, underwear, stationary, fashion rags, gift cards, vouchers for cosmetic procedures, and many other tony gifts were doled out to fashion personalities, media and special guests over the course of the week.

Some of our favorites included a leather, buckled bracelet from Mackage, a $100.00 gift card from Rachel Sin, dress shirts and trousers from EXPRESS, and color-blocked, linen pocket squares from Whitney Linen. But the best gift bag, without question, had to come from the essie booth.

The award-winning nail art brand gave accredited media gift packs with over $200.00 of merchandise inside that featured still-to-be-released products so top secret that we can’t show it here until it is released in 2013. The bag also came packed with some on-trend colors of polish, nail care, and a chic, magnetic polish that leaves an embossed, croc-leather design on your nails with the use of a special magnet in its cap.

The essie booth didn’t stop there though; they gave free nail makeovers and new, runway-inspired polishes to all in attendance, while also providing its services to many of the runways at Fashion Week itself.

THE BRUNETTES Meet Tennis Star and LACOSTE Spokesmodel Milos Raonic

THE BRUNETTES recently headed over to Toronto’s Queen Street location of the Bay for a meet-and-greet with Canadian tennis all-star Milos Raonic to celebrate the sport champion’s victories, including a branding ambassadorship with luxury athletic wear label LACOSTE.

The event, which was hosted by news anchor Rosey Edeh, was thrown as part of a LACOSTE pop-up shop grand opening in the Bay store. Guests were invited to come out and spend the evening with Milos (who signed autographs onsite), listen to great music, shop LACOSTE’s latest wares, and enter a contest that gave them the opportunity to win an apparel and fragrance gift pack from LACOSTE, plus tickets to the Air Canada Centre’s Face-Off Tennis Exhibition where Raonic played against the top-ranked Andy Roddick.

The Vawkkin and Vawk Spring 2013 Collections @ World Mastercard Fashion Week

The Vawkkin and Vawk Spring 2013 collections graced the stage at Toronto's World Mastercard Fashion Week. Designed by Project Runway Canada Season 2 winner Sunny Fong, the double showing featured Fong's everyday workwear line Vawkkin and his more high-end label Vawk.

While clean lines and classic workwear silhouettes took the spotlight at Vawkkin, figure-conscious frocks, red carpet gowns and corseted undertones ruled the stage at Vawk. Merging two perspectives, Sunny Fong's sister collections take one from day to evening and from work to play.

Victorious Vélo-Style Collaborations: H&M for Brick Lane Bikes

H&M is set to launch a new, innovative capsule collection on March 7th, 2013 that will combine a hip streetwear esthetic with active apparel in collaboration with a relatively young London-based company, Brick Lane Bikes.

Brick Lane Bikes specializes in manufacturing custom-built cycles for its customers and, like H&M, brings the latest styles, in-colors, and trends to its products. The collection is being created by H&M and tested by Brick Lane Bikes to make sure that the clothing not only looks good on and off the vélo, but that it also performs the extra function of making cycling easier on the rider. The 11-piece collection will be designed with sustainable fabrics, making it just as friendly for the environment as going for a romantic ride on a bicycle built for two.

Travis Taddeo Spring 2013 @ World Mastercard Fashion Week

The Travis Taddeo Spring 2013 collection was showcased on the last day of Toronto's World Mastercard Fashion Week. The Montreal-based designer's showing featured a mix of women's and menswear looks that epitomized an air of edgy minimalism. Staying true to his bold yet simplistic aesthetic, the designer dressed female models in effortlessly wrapped maxi dresses while his male models donned leather and harness-inspired belt details. From monochromatic tones and subtle metallics to a hint of bold blues, the Travis Taddeo Spring 2013 collection was a risque favorite for THE BRUNETTES.
